Job Description

The Windows Specialist - IT Infrastructure is responsible to administer and maintain the bank windows & virtualization environment. In this role, you will be responsible for installing or upgrading windows-based systems and servers, managing user access to the servers, and maintaining the security and stability of the System.

 

The incumbent is also responsible to recommend and evaluate changes and new solutions in line with business unit and overall organizational goals.

To ensure success as a windows specialist, you should have in-depth knowledge of windows server setup, deployment, and maintenance, advanced scripting skills, and the ability to solve complex IT issues. Ultimately the latter is a top-class IT professional who ensures the smooth running of the company’s server systems, while maintaining a high level of security.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

·        Planning and executing the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of equipment; defining windows policies and procedures.

·        Maintains performance by performing monitoring and analysis, and performance tuning.

·        Investigate, recommend and install enhancements and operating procedures that optimize server availability

·        Document problems and resolutions for future reference.

·        Perform patching and upgrades by conferring with vendors and internal users, developing, testing, evaluating, and installing enhancements.

·        Plan and implement windows security, managing security, file permissions, backup and disaster recovery plans, file system integrity, and adding and deleting users.

·        Evaluate and/or recommend purchases of computers, network hardware, peripheral equipment, and software.

·        Expert knowledge of windows servers running in a 24x7 data centre.

·        Administration of Web application on IIS.

·        Sound knowledge of Azure and office 365 platform.

·        Mastering of active directory/DNS.

·        Group policy management.

·        Knowledge of DFS File Server.

·        Expert knowledge of exchange Server.

·        Proficient windows environment patching skills and tools (e.g. Managed engine).

·        Well versed with virtual Servers infrastructure.

·        In-depth knowledge of hyperconverged environment.

·        Master VMware environment.

·        System failure analysis and recovery

·        Reviewing system error logs and user-reported errors.

·        Providing technical support for staff and back-end system users.

·        Managing user access.

·        Maintaining server architecture security and creating system backups.

·        Administer backup and replication tools such as Veeam.

·        Technical project management

·        Provide technical expertise in RFP & RFQ preparation & evaluation.

·        Prepare and manage budgets/Payments

·        Prepare reporting to management

·        Plan and review replacement of equipment

·        Vendor management

PREREQUISITES:

·        Diploma or Degree holder in IT or other qualification acceptable to the bank

·        Minimum 4 years’ experience as a full-time windows administrator in a complex environment preferably in the banking sector.

 

SKILLS:

·        Expert knowledge of windows operating systems, VMware environments, file server, network protocols.

·        Thorough knowledge and practical experience in key networking and systems concepts (e.g., DHCP DNS, Active Directory, Group Policy)

·        Specialist with power shell scripting.

·        Excellent knowledge in Microsoft exchange server

·        Good overview of M365 technology

·        Process and quality driven with high attention to detail

·        Problem solving and solution oriented

·        Good verbal and written communication and reporting skills

·        Highly committed to customer service by providing support to users for all Banking systems

·        Team player with good interpersonal skills

·        Excellent technical skills

·        Work under tight deadlines

·        Self-management and learning with very little supervision required
