Job Description
Job Purpose
The Accountant is responsible for the preparation of accurate
and timely monthly management accounts, overseeing day-to-day accounting
operations, and supporting audit processes and financial reporting
requirements. The role also includes supervision of accounts payable and
receivable functions to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with
internal policies and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Management Accounts
- Prepare monthly management
accounts, including profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow
statements
- Perform variance analysis and
provide explanations on financial performance
- Ensure timely and accurate
month-end and year-end close processes
- Assist in budgeting and
forecasting processes
Audit & Compliance
- Lead the audit process,
including preparation of audit schedules and coordination with external
auditors
- Ensure compliance with
applicable accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal policies
- Prepare and review statutory
returns (e.g., VAT, corporate tax) where applicable
Financial Analysis & Reporting
- Prepare ad hoc financial
reports and analysis as required by management
- Support decision-making through
insightful financial data and recommendations
Supervision & Team Management
- Oversee and review the work of
the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable Officers
- Ensure timely processing of
supplier invoices, payments, and customer collections
- Monitor debtor and creditor
balances and follow up on outstanding items
- Provide guidance, training, and
performance feedback to team members
General Accounting & Controls
- Maintain general ledger
integrity and ensure proper reconciliations (bank, intercompany, etc.)
- Monitor and improve internal
controls and accounting processes
- Assist in system improvements
and implementation of new procedures where required
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in
Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Professional qualification
(ACCA, ACA, CIMA or equivalent) preferred or in progress
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant
accounting experience
- Experience in managing audits and preparing management accounts
