Job Description
Key
Responsibilities
- Plan and prepare breakfast, lunch, and
tea break menus
- Ensure daily tea service is
provided on time
- Prepare meals in accordance with menus
set by Management
- Ensure all ingredients and finished
products are fresh and of good quality
- Follow standard recipes, including accurate
measuring and portioning
- Cook food using various methods such as grilling,
baking, steaming, and boiling
- Present, garnish, and arrange dishes to an
acceptable standard
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe
kitchen environment
- Handle, store, and preserve food in
compliance with HACCP standards
- Ensure full compliance with food safety
and sanitation procedures
- Wash and maintain all utensils and cooking
equipment properly
- Regularly inspect kitchen facilities,
equipment, and supplies
- Label all prepared food items and
ingredients with expiry dates
- Maintain refrigerators in a clean and
orderly condition
- Take inventory of food supplies and
kitchen equipment
- Contribute to the preparation of healthy
meal options for staff
- Assist with serving food when required
- Occasionally perform cashier duties
during service in the absence of the canteen supervisor
- Prepare meals for overtime (OT) staff
(4 days per week) as from 16h00
- Perform any other related duties as
assigned by Management
Experience & Knowledge Requirements
- Minimum 5+ years of proven experience
cooking for 100+ persons
- Experience in preparing a variety of
cuisines:
- Chinese
- Indian
- Mauritian cuisine
- Hands-on experience with cutting tools,
cookware, and bakeware
- Strong knowledge of different cooking
methods and techniques
- Good understanding of food safety,
hygiene, and sanitation standards (HACCP)
- Ability to follow instructions and
standardized procedures
- Valid Food Handler’s Certificate
- Ability to work effectively in a team
environment
- Calm and composed under pressure in a
fast-paced setting
- Strong attention to detail and
cleanliness
- Good organizational and time management
skills
- Physically fit with excellent stamina
- Ability to stand for long hours and
work in hot conditions
- Flexibility to work irregular hours when required
