Officer (Part-Time)
Compagnie de Beau Vallon Ltée is one of the
main economic players in the South-East of Mauritius. Over the past fifteen years, the Group has significantly
diversified its activities across key sectors including diversified
agriculture, hospitality, and property development.
We are currently seeking a dynamic Health & Safety Officer (Part-Time) to join our team.
Reporting to the Group HR Manager, the successful
candidate will play a key role in ensuring compliance with health and safety
regulations, driving risk assessments, and fostering a strong safety culture
across our operations, including Agri-Business, Property, and Leisure clusters.
Key Responsibilities
Health &
Safety Compliance & Risk Management
·
Provide advice and guidance on health and safety
regulations, internal policies, and best practices.
·
Conduct regular health and safety audits and ensure
follow-up on action plans.
·
Identify workplace risks and recommend corrective and
preventive measures to minimise accidents and occupational illnesses.
·
Monitor workplace conditions to identify potential
health and safety hazards.
·
Advise management and teams on the interpretation and
application of health and safety legislation.
·
Prepare reports related to compliance, incidents,
inspections, and audits.
Operational
Follow-up & Regulatory Compliance
·
Organise and facilitate Health & Safety Committee
meetings at least once every two months.
·
Ensure the availability and proper use of personal
protective equipment (PPE).
·
Ensure timely renewal of the annual factory
registration in line with legal requirements.
·
Ensure renewal and compliance of the Fire Safety
Certificate on an annual basis.
·
Liaise regularly (bi-weekly) with the company
dispensary to identify recurring health issues and propose preventive measures.
·
Ensure proper maintenance and servicing of fire safety
equipment, including fire extinguishers.
Training,
Awareness & Incident Management
·
Deliver training sessions on health and safety
practices, emergency procedures, and risk prevention.
·
Develop and implement safety procedures and emergency
response plans, including organising evacuation drills.
·
Respond to workplace accidents by conducting
investigations, analysing root causes, and recommending corrective actions.
·
Maintain accurate records of audits, risk assessments,
incidents, and training activities.
Profile
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices.
- Sound understanding of applicable health and safety legislation.
- Good communication and training facilitation skills.
- Ability to work across multiple sites and operational environments.
