Job Overview

We are seeking a proactive and hands-on Team Leader – Timberyard Section to oversee daily operations within the timberyard and ensure efficient coordination with workshop activities. The role requires strong leadership, operational discipline, and a focus on safety, quality, and productivity. The successful candidate will play a key role in optimizing material flow, maintaining yard organization, and driving team performance in a fast-paced environment.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate all timberyard activities, including loading, unloading, handling, and storage of materials.
  • Plan and prepare timber based on cutting lists and workshop requirements to ensure timely production support.
  • Operate and oversee the use of timber cutting machines, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with safety standards.
  • Train and guide team members on proper cutting techniques, machine handling, and safe operating procedures.
  • Coordinate material movement and delivery schedules between the timberyard and workshop.
  • Lead, supervise, and allocate tasks to the timberyard team to ensure productivity and efficiency targets are met.
  • Monitor stock levels and maintain accurate inventory records in coordination with the storekeeping function.
  • Ensure the timberyard is maintained in a clean, organized, and safe condition at all times.
  • Enforce strict adherence to health and safety standards, including proper use of PPE and safe handling practices.
  • Conduct routine inspections of tools, equipment, and machinery, ensuring proper maintenance and reporting any faults.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and workflow.
  • Liaise with management and relevant departments to address operational issues and ensure smooth coordination. 

Candidate Profile

  • Proven experience in a similar supervisory role within a timberyard, construction, manufacturing, or industrial environment.
  • Strong hands-on experience with timber cutting machines, with the ability to train, supervise, and monitor employees on cutting operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team in a hands-on operational setting.
  • Practical knowledge of timber handling, cutting processes, and related tools/equipment.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills with attention to detail.
  • Sound understanding of workplace health and safety regulations and practices.
  • Reliable, proactive, and able to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good communication and coordination skills.
