Job Description

Profile

  • Holder of a Degree in in Occupational Health & Safety or related field;
  • Proven experience in a similar role (industrial/manufacturing environment is an advantage);
  • Knowledge of applicable health and safety regulations;
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Meticulous and organized approach;
  • Self motivated and able to deal with priorities; 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office is essential;

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and company policies;
  • Carry out risk assessment/hazard analysis and act as Technical Secretary in management systems meetings;
  • Ensure effective contractor safety management, including pre-qualification, site induction, permit-to-work compliance and monitoring of contractor activities to ensure adherence to site safety requirements;
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, and prepare reports;
  • Carry out on site inspections and deal with resolving complaints and non-conformances;
  • Assist in supervision of site maintenance team;
  • Attend meetings with management concerning issues related to health and safety;
  • Provide on the job training, refresher training to employees on health and safety;
  • Assist in the internal and external audits, prepare corrective action plans and ensure corrective actions are taken thereafter;
