Job Description

Scope

The Supply Chain Officer should perform a wide variety of professional level procurement duties involving organisation, acquisition of goods and services, planning, supplier management, coordination and ensuring correct procedures and policies; performs related duties as assigned in mining related sector (Procurement, Sales & Expediting). The Supply Chain Officer shall ensure a seamless, efficient, and cost-effective flow of goods from supplier to customer. This role acts as a critical link between sales commitments and operational execution, managing procurement activities, fulfilling customer orders, and expediting the supply chain to meet deadlines.

Duties and responsibilities:

 Sourcing & Supplier Management: Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers. Conduct   supplier audits and maintain a preferred supplier list

  • Purchase Order Management: Prepare and issue POs based on sales orders and inventory requirements. Ensure POs are accurate and acknowledged.
  • Negotiation: Negotiate terms and conditions, pricing, lead times, and payment terms with suppliers to achieve cost savings and mitigate risk.
  • Cost Management: Analyze costs, track purchase price variances (PPV), and implement cost-saving initiatives.
  • Technical Knowledge: Understanding of mining equipment, processing plants, and the criticality of different spare parts as well as handling of reagents
  • Customer Liaison: Act as a primary point of contact for the sales team regarding order status, product availability, and logistical queries.
  • Quotation Support: Provide procurement teams with current cost and lead time data to help prepare competitive sales quotations.
  • Proactive Tracking: Proactively track and monitor the status of all open POs and sales orders from placement to delivery.
  • Logistics Coordination: Arrange and coordinate transportation (inbound and outbound), including selecting freight forwarders and customs clearance.
  • Documentation: Ensure all necessary shipping and customs documentation (e.g., commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin) are accurate and complete.
  • System Maintenance: Ensure all data in the ERP/MRP system is accurate, including lead times, costs, and order statuses.

 

  Skills

 Competences:

  • Diploma / Degree holder (Purchasing/Supply Chain Management) with Min 3 years experience.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and track multiple processes.
  • Computer Savvy with a working knowledge of supply chain management software (ERP) and Proficiency in Excel
  • Strong understanding of Incoterms® and international trade documentation

  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good organisational and coordination abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. (English/French)
