C-Care
International, part of the healthcare cluster of CIEL Group, is a Mauritian
private healthcare group that owns and operates four healthcare facilities in
Mauritius, namely C-Care Darné, Wellkin, Grand-Baie and Tamarin, and two
hospitals in Uganda, C-Care IHK and IMC. C-Care also owns and manages 22
primary care Clinics and 55 C-Lab collection centres in Mauritius, Uganda, and
Madagascar.
C-Care is currently looking for a Data Engineer to be based at C-Care Corporate Office, in Mauritius.
| Data Engineer
Reporting to
the Head of Data & Analytics, the selected candidate will be responsible
for maintaining and continuously enhancing the Group’s Microsoft Azure data
platform, ensuring that clinical, operational and commercial data is securely
and accurately integrated, transformed and made available for reporting and
analytics purposes. The role will support data-driven decision-making across
the Business Units and Corporate Office by delivering reliable, decision-ready
information, leading end-to-end data engineering projects, and collaborating
with key stakeholders to meet the Group’s reporting and analytics objectives.
What you will be doing:

Maintain and monitor
the Group's Azure data platform to ensure data pipelines run on schedule and
data remains available, accurate, and secure.
·
Build and maintain
data ingestion, transformation, and modelling pipelines using Azure Data
Factory, Databricks/Synapse, and SQL.
·
Apply version control,
testing practices, and documented engineering standards across all
developments.
·
Troubleshoot and
resolve pipeline failures and data quality issues, identifying root causes and
preventing recurring incidents.
·
Design, develop, and
maintain curated data models and reporting datasets that support Power BI
dashboards.
·
Onboard clinical,
operational, and commercial source systems onto the Azure platform from
requirements gathering through production deployment.
·
Lead end-to-end data
projects, including scoping, planning, execution, and post-implementation
reviews.
·
Communicate project
progress, risks, and dependencies to sponsors and key stakeholders.
·
Serve as the primary
data contact for Transformation/IT, Finance, Operations, and Medical Leadership
teams.
·
Translate business
requirements into clear technical specifications and actionable solutions.
·
Manage stakeholder
expectations regarding project scope, priorities, and delivery timelines.
·
Implement and maintain
Group data governance standards across the Azure platform.
·
Manage data access
controls, cataloguing, lineage tracking, and retention requirements.
·
Maintain comprehensive
technical documentation for data pipelines and reporting datasets.
·
Ensure clinical and
personal data is managed in compliance with data protection regulations and
internal audit standards.
·
Support external
audits by providing required documentation, evidence, and compliance records.
·
Identify and implement
opportunities to improve pipeline performance, platform automation, and cost
efficiency.
·
Drive continuous
enhancements across the Azure data estate through process optimization and best
practices.
·
Evaluate emerging
Azure, analytics, AI, and advanced data capabilities.
·
Pilot innovative
solutions that deliver measurable business value and support strategic
objectives.
What are we looking for?
·
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software
Engineering, or a related field.
·
Postgraduate qualification in Data Engineering, Data Science, or
Analytics is advantageous.
·
5 to 8+ years of professional experience, with a minimum of 5 years in
data engineering roles.
·
Proven hands-on experience delivering data engineering solutions using
Microsoft Azure.
·
Demonstrated experience building, maintaining, and supporting
production-grade data pipelines and dimensional data models.
·
Experience gathering business requirements and delivering data projects
from initiation through to completion.
·
Experience working within multi-site or matrix organizations; healthcare
or multi-entity group experience is beneficial.
·
Strong knowledge of the Azure data ecosystem, including Azure Data
Factory, Synapse Analytics, Data Lake Storage, and Azure SQL.
·
Advanced SQL skills with proficiency in Python or PySpark for data
transformation and automation.
·
Expertise in data modelling and data warehousing concepts, including
schema design, ETL/ELT methodologies, and incremental loading strategies.
·
Experience developing Power BI semantic models, datasets, and dashboards.
·
Sound understanding of data governance, security, privacy, access
control, and data protection compliance requirements.
·
Experience with version control and DevOps practices, including Git,
Azure DevOps, and CI/CD pipeline implementation.
·
Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate (DP-203) or equivalent
certification is an advantage.
·
