Job Description
Cost & Inventory Accountant
Position Purpose
Responsible for the financial control, reconciliation, valuation and reporting of inventory and production costs. The role ensures accurate inventory records in Microsoft Dynamics NAV, proper stock-to-GL reconciliation, reliable costing, and effective analysis of production and inventory variances.This position is based in Madagascar. The selected candidate will be required to relocate to Madagascar and work there on a permanent basis. If you are not willing to relocate to Madagascar, please do not apply for this position.
Key Responsibilities
- Inventory Control: Monitor and reconcile raw materials, packaging, WIP and finished goods; investigate stock discrepancies, negative stock, ageing, obsolete and damaged inventory.
- Cost Accounting: Monitor production consumption against BOMs and production orders; analyse material usage, yield, scrap, waste, overheads and production cost variances.
- NAV & GL Reconciliation: Reconcile inventory records in NAV to the General Ledger and resolve posting, cut-off, valuation and mapping discrepancies.
- Stock Counts: Coordinate and independently verify cycle counts, monthly/year-end counts and surprise stock counts; investigate and report variances.
- Month-End Closing: Prepare inventory valuation, movement, consumption, costing, ageing, provisions and variance reports as part of the monthly closing process.
- Import Documentation: Ensure OPEX and CAPEX import files are complete and properly matched to invoices, receipts, customs documents, freight and duties; support accurate landed-cost allocation.
- Internal Controls: Strengthen controls over inventory movements, production consumption, stock counts, costing and approvals, while identifying opportunities for process improvement.
- Reporting & Analysis: Provide reliable inventory and production-cost information to Finance, Production, Warehouse, Procurement and Supply Chain teams to support decision-making.

Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Management Accounting, Cost Accounting or related field preferred.
- ACCA Level 2 or equivalent is an advantage.
- 3–5 years' experience in manufacturing, inventory, cost accounting or financial control.
- Strong practical experience with inventory, production consumption, stock counts and reconciliations.
- ERP experience required; Microsoft Dynamics NAV strongly preferred.
- Experience in stock-to-GL reconciliation, month-end closing and audit support.
- Knowledge of import documentation, landed costs and OPEX/CAPEX classification is an advantage.
