Job Description
Our client, a leading operator in water and wastewater
treatment solutions, is seeking an experienced Water Treatment Manager to
oversee operations across multiple treatment installations in Mauritius.
This strategic role is ideal for a seasoned professional who
thrives in a technical, compliance‑driven environment and is passionate about
ensuring safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible water treatment
operations.
About the Role
The Water Treatment Manager will be responsible for the day‑to‑day
operations, maintenance, and regulatory compliance of all water and
wastewater treatment installations managed by the organisation.
The role will provide technical support to commercial
teams, contribute to project commissioning, and play a key part in client
interface and contract delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Lead
and optimise operations of all ETP, STP, and Total Water Management sites.
- Ensure
continuous plant uptime and adherence to design parameters.
- Oversee
chemical dosing, treatment cycles, and process monitoring.
- Track
and report KPIs including flow rates, treatment efficiency, chemical
consumption, and downtime.
Environmental Compliance
- Guarantee
full compliance with Mauritian environmental legislation and discharge
permits.
- Maintain
robust water quality testing protocols and coordinate laboratory sampling.
- Investigate
non‑conformances and implement corrective actions.
Team Management
- Lead,
coach, and develop plant operators and technicians.
- Define
roles, conduct performance reviews, and identify training needs.
- Ensure
safety training, chemical handling protocols, and emergency readiness.
Technical Support & Projects
- Provide
technical expertise for proposals, site assessments, and feasibility
studies.
- Support
commissioning and handover of new installations.
- Recommend
new technologies, chemicals, and process improvements.
Budget & Cost Control
- Manage
annual OPEX budgets for chemicals, consumables, maintenance, and labour.
- Monitor
monthly spend, address variances, and deliver cost‑saving initiatives.
- Produce
monthly budget reports for senior management.
Site Management & Client Interface
- Conduct
regular site inspections and produce formal reports.
- Act as
the primary operational contact for clients, ensuring SLA achievement and
prompt resolution of queries.
- Support
contract renewals with performance data and technical insights.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- A Bachelor’s
Degree in Chemical, Environmental, or Process Engineering.
- 8–10
years’ experience in water/wastewater treatment operations, including
at least 3 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
- Proven
experience managing ETP/STP installations in industrial or
municipal environments.
- Knowledge
of Mauritian or regional regulatory frameworks.
- Certifications
such as ISO 14001, NEBOSH, or Lean Six Sigma are advantageous.
- Strong
leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Fluency
in English and French, a valid driving licence, and willingness to
travel across sites.
Technical Skills Required
- Expertise
in biological, physico‑chemical, and membrane treatment technologies
(MBBR, SBR, UF, RO).
- Proficiency
in SCADA systems and plant automation.
- Strong
report writing and presentation skills.
- Budget
management and cost control discipline.
- ERP
experience (Sage preferred).
