Head Waiter

📍 Location: West, Mauritius

About the Opportunity

A well-established hospitality establishment in the West is looking for an experienced and customer-focused Head Waiter to lead the restaurant service team. The successful candidate will ensure exceptional guest experiences by supervising daily restaurant operations, maintaining high service standards, and supporting the development of the front-of-house team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the waitstaff to ensure smooth restaurant operations.
  • Welcome guests, assist with seating arrangements, and ensure exceptional customer service throughout their dining experience.
  • Train, coach, and motivate the service team to maintain high standards of professionalism and efficiency.
  • Monitor staff performance and provide guidance to improve service quality.
  • Ensure tables are properly set and the dining area is clean, organized, and welcoming at all times.
  • Take customer orders and assist the team during busy service periods when required.
  • Handle guest enquiries, special requests, and complaints promptly and professionally.
  • Coordinate with the kitchen and bar teams to ensure timely and accurate service.
  • Monitor stock levels of restaurant supplies and report replenishment needs.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards.
  • Assist in scheduling staff shifts and managing daily team allocations.
  • Support management in achieving operational and customer satisfaction objectives.

Profile

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar supervisory role within the hospitality or restaurant industry.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
  • Well-presented, professional, and customer-oriented.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of food and beverage service standards.
  • Fluent in English and French; additional languages will be an advantage.
  • Flexible to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
