Job Description
Drymix Ltd, member of UBP
Group, is looking to recruit a Research and Development Lead who will
report to the Head of Laboratory
Operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Developing new products and improving existing formulations through laboratory research, testing, and site validations.
• Monitoring industry trends, emerging technologies, and innovative materials to drive product innovation and maintain market competitiveness.
• Enhancing product application methods and tools to improve site productivity and customer experience.
• Conducting performance evaluations of competitor products and providing recommendations to support business strategy.
• Collaborating with the teams to ensure product conformity, quality standards, and continuous improvement.
• Preparing technical reports, maintaining accurate R&D records, and contributing to the development of technical documentation.
• Delivering product and application training to laboratory personnel, masons, sales teams, and other stakeholders.
• Leading, mentoring, and developing the R&D team through performance management, coaching, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Promoting a strong Health & Safety culture by ensuring compliance with company policies, identifying risks, and encouraging team participation in safety programmes.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years' experience in Research & Development within the mortar industry or a related sector.
• Sound knowledge of mortar technology, polymer chemistry, and their applications in the construction and building materials industry.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret experimental data and draw meaningful conclusions.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and other relevant IT tools.
• Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate, guide, and develop team members.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and deliver technical training when required.
• Proactive, innovative, and results-driven approach with a passion for continuous improvement.
• Holder of a valid driving licence and willing to travel for site visits, product trials, and technical support activities.
