About the Role

Medscheme Mauritius is seeking an experienced, practical and hands-on Human Capital Manager to lead and oversee the day-to-day Human Capital function while ensuring compliance, operational efficiency and an outstanding employee experience.

Reporting to Senior Management, you will be responsible for managing Human Capital operations, payroll governance, employee relations, recruitment, policy implementation, office administration and facilities management. You will play a key role in ensuring that Human Capital practices support the company's strategic objectives while maintaining compliance with Mauritian employment legislation and ISO standards.

 Key Responsibilities

Human Capital Operations

  • Oversee the administration and maintenance of the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) and employee records.
  • Ensure payroll governance by validating monthly payroll inputs and maintaining payroll accuracy.
  • Manage all aspects of employee lifecycle administration, including appointments, transfers, confirmations and exits.
  • Ensure compliance with Mauritian Employment Rights Act, Workers' Rights Act and other applicable employment legislation.
  • Produce regular Human Capital operational reports and management information.

Employee Relations

  • Manage employee grievances and disciplinary matters in accordance with company policies and legislation.
  • Provide guidance and support to managers on employment legislation and Human Capital best practices.
  • Promote the fair, consistent and effective application of Human Capital policies and procedures.
  • Support conflict resolution initiatives and promote employee wellbeing and engagement.

Recruitment & Workforce Administration

  • Coordinate end-to-end recruitment activities.
  • Liaise with Heads of Department regarding workforce planning and staffing requirements.
  • Monitor vacancies, recruitment progress and selection processes.
  • Coordinate employee onboarding, induction and probation review processes.

Policies & Compliance

  • Develop, implement and maintain Human Capital policies and procedures.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with Mauritian labour legislation and company standards.
  • Coordinate policy reviews and updates.
  • Maintain accurate employee documentation and records.

Office Administration & Facilities

  • Oversee office administration and ensure efficient day-to-day operations.
  • Manage office facilities, maintenance and service providers.
  • Supervise vendors and contractual service providers.
  • Manage office supplies and related contracts.
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety requirements.
  • Coordinate office space planning and workplace improvements.
  • Support ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 audits and operational compliance initiatives.

Team Leadership

  • Lead and supervise the Human Capital and Administration team.
  • Allocate workloads and monitor departmental performance.
  • Coach, mentor and develop team members.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the department.
  • Monitor service delivery and ensure high standards of operational excellence.

 Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Human Capital, Business Administration or a related field.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Human Resources or a related discipline will be an advantage.
  • Minimum 5+ years' experience in Human Resources, including experience managing Human Capital operations.
  • Sound knowledge of Mauritian Employment and Labour legislation.
  • Good understanding of ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 standards.
  • Experience supervising office administration and facilities management.
  • Experience working with HRIS, Payroll and Performance Management Systems.
  • Strong knowledge of Human Capital best practices and operational processes.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
