Accountant (French accounting)
Location: Grand Baie, Mauritius
Department: Finance & Accounting
Reporting to: Accounting Manager
Job Summary
We are seeking an Accountant to join our team in Mauritius. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accounting records, reviewing financial accounts, and ensuring compliance with French tax obligations. This role offers the opportunity to work with French clients while developing within an international environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain the general ledger and accurately record accounting transactions.
- Perform bank reconciliations and monitor general ledger and subsidiary accounts.
- Assist with monthly and annual financial close processes.
- Prepare and submit French tax filings, including VAT returns and other statutory declarations.
- Review accounting entries and identify discrepancies or required adjustments.
- Ensure compliance with French accounting standards and tax regulations.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and management reports.
- Respond to client queries relating to accounting and tax matters.
- Monitor changes in French accounting and tax legislation to ensure ongoing compliance.
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in french accounting, bookkeeping, account reconciliation/review, and French tax compliance.
- Strong knowledge of the French tax framework, particularly VAT and Corporate Income Tax.
- Previous experience working with French clients or within a French accounting environment is an advantage.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as Sage, Cegid, or equivalent ERP/accounting systems.
- Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Fluent in French, with a good command of English.
