Job Description

Zenith Contracting Ltd is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Accounts Clerk to join our growing construction team

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process supplier invoices, payment vouchers, and receipts.
  • Record daily financial transactions accurately in the accounting system.
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Follow up on outstanding customer payments.
  • Assist with payroll preparation and statutory deductions.
  • Prepare VAT schedules and assist with tax-related documentation.
  • Maintain proper filing of financial and accounting records.
  • Reconcile supplier and customer statements.
  • Maintain records of purchase orders, subcontractor payments, and material invoices.
  • Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, clients, and auditors when required.
  • Perform general administrative duties related to the accounts department.

Requirements

  • Higher School Certificate
  • Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or ACCA Level 1.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in an accounting role (construction industry experience will be an advantage).

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of construction accounting.
  • Understanding of purchase orders, subcontractor payments, retention, progress claims, and project costing.
  • Familiarity with VAT regulations and statutory compliance in Mauritius.
  • Experience with accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, Pastel, or Buildsmart).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
