Job Description
Zenith Contracting Ltd is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Accounts Clerk to join our growing construction team
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and process supplier invoices, payment vouchers, and receipts.
- Record daily financial transactions accurately in the accounting system.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Follow up on outstanding customer payments.
- Assist with payroll preparation and statutory deductions.
- Prepare VAT schedules and assist with tax-related documentation.
- Maintain proper filing of financial and accounting records.
- Reconcile supplier and customer statements.
- Maintain records of purchase orders, subcontractor payments, and material invoices.
- Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, clients, and auditors when required.
- Perform general administrative duties related to the accounts department.
Requirements
- Higher School Certificate
- Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or ACCA Level 1.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in an accounting role (construction industry experience will be an advantage).
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of construction accounting.
- Understanding of purchase orders, subcontractor payments, retention, progress claims, and project costing.
- Familiarity with VAT regulations and statutory compliance in Mauritius.
- Experience with accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, Pastel, or Buildsmart).
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
