Job Description

Our client is seeking an experienced Compliance Officer and Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) to oversee the Company's compliance and financial crime risk management framework. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, FSC requirements, AML/CFT obligations, and internal policies.

 

Compliance Responsibilities:

 

·       Act as the designated Compliance Officer of the Company.

·       Ensure compliance with applicable Mauritius laws, regulations, FSC Rules, FSC Codes, and FSC Guidelines.

·       Develop, maintain, and periodically review the Company's compliance framework, policies, and procedures.

·       Monitor regulatory developments and assess their impact on the Company's business activities.

·       Conduct compliance monitoring and testing activities and report findings to management and the Board.

·       Provide regulatory advice and guidance to management and staff on compliance-related matters.

·       Maintain compliance registers, including breaches, conflicts of interest, complaints, gifts and entertainment, and regulatory correspondence.

·       Coordinate regulatory filings, notifications, and communications with the FSC and other regulatory authorities.

·       Assist with regulatory inspections, audits, and information requests.

Prepare periodic compliance reports for management and the Board.

 

AML/CFT & MLRO Responsibilities:

 

·       Act as the designated Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) of the Companies incorporated in Mauritius.

·       Maintain and oversee the Company's AML/CFT and Proliferation Financing framework.

·       Ensure compliance with the Financial Intelligence and Anti-Money Laundering Act (FIAMLA), FSC AML/CFT Handbook, United Nations Sanctions requirements, and other applicable AML/CFT regulations.

·       Review and approve customer due diligence (CDD), enhanced due diligence (EDD), and periodic review assessments, where applicable.

·       Oversee customer risk assessment and business risk assessment processes.

·       Monitor sanctions, politically exposed persons (PEP), adverse media, and other financial crime risks.

·       Investigate suspicious or unusual activities and determine whether Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) should be submitted to the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU).

·       Maintain AML/CFT records and documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements.

·       Deliver AML/CFT training and awareness programs to employees and directors.

·       Prepare AML/CFT reports for management and the Board.

 

Profile:

 

·       Bachelor’s degree in law, Business Administration, Risk Management, Compliance, or a related discipline.

·       Professional qualifications such as ICA, ACAMS, CISI, or equivalent would be advantageous.

·       Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in Compliance and AML/CFT within the financial services industry is mandatory and currently hold FSC Mauritius approval as a Compliance Officer and Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) for a regulated financial services entity.

·       Experience dealing directly with the Financial Services Commission (FSC), Mauritius.

·       Strong understanding of Mauritius regulatory requirements, AML/CFT legislation, and financial crime risk management.

Experience within investment management, asset management, private equity, funds, financial services, or global business companies would be preferred.

 

Knowledge & Skills:

Strong knowledge of Mauritius regulatory requirements and AML/CFT obligations.

Sound understanding of FIAMLA, FSC Rules, FSC AML/CFT Handbook, and FATF recommendations.

Excellent analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills.

Strong report-writing, communication, and presentation skills.

Ability to interact effectively with regulators, directors, senior management
