The Tractor-trailer Driver is responsible for operating heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner. Heavy equipment may include trucks, front-end loaders and other pieces of equipment.
Duties and responsibilities:
● Operates all heavy equipment in a safe and efficient way according to all relevant legislation, policies
and procedures.
● May operate smaller vehicle as directed by his/her supervisor.
● Ensures that the transportation of employees, when it is the case, is done in a safe manner.
● Always ensures that the transportation of goods, materials and animals is done is a safe manner.
● Inspects daily that vehicle is in good operational condition (i.e the equipment cooling system is
working; fuel and oil have been replenished; equipment is clean) and reports equipment issues or
failures to Administrative Officer immediately.
● Provides basic preventive maintenance on equipment as directed by the equipment manager or
assistant superintendent and return equipment to the designated location at the maintenance
facility.
● Ensures that fitness and servicing appointment have been scheduled.
● Renews insurance of vehicle as per legislation and company policy.
● Reports any Health and Safety issues.
● Performs any other cognate duties as directed by his/her supervisor.
Candidates Profile:
● Knowledge of safe, efficient mechanical operation of tractors and other motorised equipment.
● Mechanical aptitude.
● Ability to follow oral and written directions.
● Possession of a valid clean P Tyre driver’s license.
