The overall responsibilities of the SDM - Stores Department - Management of stock of Raw Materials and Finished Products, - Logistics Department - Management of a fleet of lorries and the personnel for delivery of feeds all round the island

 

1. Stores.

  • To ensure that reception of ALL incoming and outgoing materials to and from Meaders Feeds Ltd as well as any other offsite premises are done as per the codes of practice of store-keeping and as per the systems & procedures in place and that this is done in the interest of the Company.
  • To ensure that the best conditions of storage are provided to ALL raw materials and finished feeds.
  • To ensure that DAILY tracking down of materials and finished feeds are done and reported to reflect the reality of the situation.
  • To ensure that Production ALWAYS have readily available ALL materials on hand for smooth runs without running short of stock.
  • To give proactive signals to Management concerning Stocks run downs that might adversely affect production.
  • To prepare delivery programs well in advance and track such on a daily basis with fresh information from production & communicate same to the Sales Department with the objective of providing excellent customer service.

2. Logistics.

  • To ensure a cost effective utilisation of the fleet of bulk delivery trucks by having a well-planned delivery scheduled to customers.
  • To monitor and control the cost of delivery per Metric Tonne.
  • To ensure that the mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems of lorries are checked and controlled on a regular basis and that preventive maintenance is carried out on all trucks.
  • To ensure the follow up of lorries from the FROTCOM system in place and to generate comprehensive reporting on a daily basis.
  • To ensure a very high level of sanitation and bio-security of all trucks, and the conduct of the personnel during their contact with the customers.
  • To ensure that the systems & procedures are scrupulously adhered to concerning the use of seals.
  • To visit suppliers & customers in view of obtaining first hand information on the level of service being provided. 

 

3. Unloading Operations

  • To control the unloading operations both within and outside the premises of the organisation for every shipment of Raw Materials and ensure that deadlines are respected.
  • To apply all the procedures related to the unloading operations in terms of Safety & Health, Quality and Security.
  • To manage the personnel so as to ensure a 24-hour service to effectively take up and complete all unloading operations
