Our client, in the financial sector, is looking for a Senior KYC Officer.

Reporting to the Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible to ensure that all new accounts are in line with KYC documentary checklists set out by the Company and that the documents and information provided in the account opening pack are consistent with purpose and nature of the account to be maintained in the Bank’s books.

Main responsibilities:

Supervise adherence to KYC principles during account opening

  • Check that all accounts opened on the Bank system have been duly checked according to KYC principles in line with Bank documentary checklists and that the account parameters and data have been correctly set on the core systems.
  • Ensure that the documents and information provided in the account opening pack are consistent with purpose and nature of the account to be maintained in the Bank’s books.
  • Verify presence and adequacy of documents required from KYC perspective for a customer to maintain accounts with the bank.
  • Check that the data that was input at account opening stage conforms to the information provided by the customer.
  • Ensure that the Bank system parameters pertaining to the functioning of the accounts are correctly set up.
  • Devise, schedule and run Cognos exception reports to identify any irregularities on customer’s accounts e.g. statement frequency, interest rate codes.
  • Analyse critically account opening documents with a view to identify any inconsistencies in the information provided and engage frontline or originating business partners to seek assurance on the nature of the client being on-boarded.

Produce KYC reports

  • Devise, schedule and run Cognos exception reports to identify any irregularities on customer’s accounts e.g. statement frequency, interest rate codes etc
  • Compile MI in respect of errors, inaccuracies, missing KYC documents etc provide the same to frontline for information and corrective action and in need escalate significant deviations to Operations and Risk management.

Supervise a team of KYC officer

  • Supervise the team to ensure effective daily operations.
  • Support the line manager of the area to develop a high-performance culture in the team by conducting daily performance feedback sessions and assisting employees to prepare for their formal performance contracting.
  • Coach team members on a daily basis on how to improve their outputs and on the effective use of the banks tools, systems and templates.
  • Review training needs with members of the team and ensure that planned training is booked and that team members are released to participate in the training. Maximise the use of available e-Learning.
  • Maintain a succession plan for the team by reviewing the skills of the team at least twice a year and having career conversations with them.
  • Provide feedback together with the manager for the area, interview applicants for vacancies in the team
  • Plan the allocation of the team members to tasks that have to be performed on a daily and weekly basis.
  • Monitor the productivity and capacity of the team members and highlight gaps to the manager.
  • Maintain leave schedules for the team. Review leave captured on the system and follow up with team members for leave that has not been captured.
  • Monitor overtime and ensure that it is kept to within acceptable limits for the department.
  • Engage with the line manager to implement disciplinary proceedings. Support the collection of evidence for hearings and act as witness when required.

Manage the Risks in the department

  • Actively partner with the Compliance function to keep abreast of changes in legislation and guidelines that impact customer due diligence.
  • Manage the recording of signatures and signing mandates on the Sigcap system so that signature verification on customer instructions and transaction can be carried out satisfactorily at point of processing
  • Attend to audit confirmation request from customers’ auditor in respect of their accounts with the Bank.

Qualification:

  • Diploma/Degree in Management.
  • 3-4 years of experience working in a KYC verification environment.
