Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Database Administrator to design, implement, maintain, and secure our organization’s databases. The ideal candidate will ensure optimal database performance, reliability, and availability while supporting ongoing development, analytics, and business operations.
Key Responsibilities
Database Management & Maintenance
- Install, configure, and upgrade database servers and related applications.
- Monitor database performance and proactively identify optimization opportunities.
- Perform regular database maintenance tasks such as indexing, tuning, and capacity planning.
Data Integrity, Security & Compliance
- Implement and maintain robust database backup, recovery, and failover strategies.
- Ensure data security through access controls, encryption, and auditing.
- Maintain compliance with data governance, privacy, and regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, SOC 2).
Support & Collaboration
- Work closely with development, DevOps, and analytics teams to support application needs.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues promptly.
- Provide SQL query optimization guidance to developers.
Automation & Documentation
- Automate repetitive administrative tasks using scripts or tools.
- Develop and maintain clear documentation for database configurations, processes, and procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience as a Database Administrator or similar role.
- Strong proficiency with one or more database technologies (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle, MongoDB).
- Solid understanding of database design, normalization, and schema management.
- Experience with backup/recovery tools and high availability solutions (e.g., replication, clustering).
- Strong SQL querying and performance tuning skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in cloud environments (AWS RDS/Aurora, Azure SQL, Google Cloud SQL).
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, Datadog).
- Experience with scripting languages (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
- Certifications such as Oracle OCP, Microsoft SQL Server MCSA/MCSE, or similar.
