BI Engineer

Our client, in the IT sector, and a service provider, is looking for a BI Engineer.

The successful candidate will be responsible to lead the team in developing and maintaining a range of business intelligence solution.

Main responsibilities:

• Gather requirements, in partnership with stakeholders and other team members.
• Develop functional and/or technical analysis, depending on assignment
• Select the appropriate technological solution, by undertaking a short proof of concept and validation cycle with stakeholders if required
• Implement the solution, either through teamwork or by working on your own initiative, depending on the assignment, compliant with the team coding standards.
• Prepare, implement when automated, and execute functional tests;
• Root cause analysis of defects/issues for own developed but also for legacy solutions (monitor daily loads...)
• Good communication skills to achieve excellent customer service as well as close end-user collaboration for quick feedback cycles
• Write end-user documentation when required.
• Escalate to the Team Lead and/or Lead Engineer if needed, on risks/issues identified which impact project delivery schedules
• Take ownership and do close follow up on project/s assigned
• Seek and respond to development feedback

Development

• Work efficiently on development tasks in accordance with the client and project needs and methodology standards
• Perform code reviews independently and with technical lead, assist in developing revisions and log defects/deficiencies
• Ensure code satisfies design specifications and complies with project standards
• Fix all detected errors in accordance with agreed schedule
• Check that effort/schedule estimates are realistic and once committed upon, these are being met.
• Resolve design problems
• Ensure documentation completeness
• Understand and apply development guidelines

Qualification:

• Degree holder in IT/IT related fields.
• Have at least 5 years’ experience in the design and development of BI solutions;

Candidate profile:

• Have strong knowledge of relational DBs and extensive SQL expertise;
• Have solid expertise in the elaboration of dimensional models (Kimball) and the development of ETL using SSIS. BIML knowledge is a plus;
• Possess SSAS, SSRS, PowerBI, MDX and DAX expertise;
• Have experience in developing self-service BI solutions;
• Capable of making data insightful (visual representations, semantic model, ...);
• Knowledge of Cognos (reporting, framework design) or Tableau is a plus;
• Data Analytics experience is a plus;
• Knowledge of IBM SPSS modeler or R is a plus;
• Can engage stakeholders in order to transform ideas into innovative solutions;
• Possess strong communication skills;
• Good Proficiency in English Communication, verbal and written
• Are a team player with a high degree of autonomy;
• Are extremely flexible (can work independently and in a team; on both large and small assignments; using multiple technologies and undertaking a variety of tasks).
