We are looking for a detail-oriented Account Officer to assist in our financial department. The responsibilities of an Account Officer include keeping financial records up-to-date, checking for inaccuracies in invoices, and handling queries on general accounts.
Duties and responsibilities
- Process payment to local and foreign suppliers
- Ensure the proper maintenance of the creditors ageing (reconciliation with supplier statement of account, accurate allocation of payments)
- Account for freight and expense invoices
- Update daily forex on accounting system
- Update cash book
- Bank reconciliation
- Revaluation of AR, AP and bank balances
- Debtors follow up (ensure prompt receipt, send statement of accounts, allocation of receipts)
- Update Fixed Asset Register and account for depreciation charges
- Account for month end provisions
- Reconciliation of inter-company balances
- Weekly bank balances follow up
- Assist in filing of Vat returns
- Assist in producing monthly management accounts
Skills and Qualifications required
- Degree in Accounting or Finance or ACCA Level 1 minimum
- Sound knowledge of accounting principles
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel
- Familiarity with import and export business will be an added advantage
- Knowledge in building management accounts will be a plus
- Excellent organization skills for maintaining clear, accurate and meticulous financial records
- Willing to take on new responsibilities in the future and grow within the company
