Tools and Equipment Supervisor

Job Purpose To control the dispatch, repair, storage, rental and disposal of tools and equipment for sites.

 

Main Duties

  • Monitor and track tools and equipment on a daily basis by job site, type and use
  • Instruct internal customers about the operation of equipment as to application, capabilities, limitations, starting, stopping, servicing, correct loading and safety issues
  • Check equipment upon return, ensuring that damage, or any missing items or parts are recorded and reported
  • Maintain an effective reception, storage and distribution of tools and equipment
  • Prepare purchase orders for rental equipment; track each piece of rented equipment by job site and job number
  • Prepare a monthly budget report for operations outlining fixed and controllable equipment costs and a weekly budget analysis of rentals and repairs
  • Perform regular spot inventories on site
  • Oversee repair requests and work performed by outside suppliers on tools and equipment
  • Track the records, licenses, inspections, warrantees, and service agreements for the organization's equipment and tools
  • Liaise with Purchasing, operations departments & suppliers to maintain an effective control on stock to ensure timely re-ordering

Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma in Stock Control, Logistics or related field
  • A minimum of 5 years of working experience in a similar position
  • Possess working knowledge of a wide range of equipment, and basic tools/equipment trouble-shooting knowledge
  •  Previous experience in store supervision in the construction industry would be an advantage

 Other Requisites

  • Computer literate and fully conversant with MS Office applications
  •  Excellent organisation and people management skills
  • Able to handle pressure and work within tight deadlines
  • Holder of a valid and clean driving license
