The Turbine is looking for an energetic, entrepreneurial start-up growth Operations Coordinator who is passionate about growing and supporting the entrepreneurial space in Mauritius, to develop the Indian Ocean’s leading incubator and co-working space services.

 

Overview

The Turbine is ENL’s start-up incubator and co-working space. It was launched in 2015 in order to help start-ups based in Mauritius grow and enter new markets in the Indian Ocean region and the African continent.

The Turbine is looking for an energetic Staurt Up Growth Operations Coordinator, with the mission to design and implement incubator’s programs, i.e. planning and managing the operations related to the incubator programs: inspire, incubation, acceleration, Go Africa, and creating in-house events for the entrepreneurs community.

The person should be proactive, organised, approachable, open-minded and driven, and demonstrate ability to coach and provide support to start-ups.

The Start-up Growth Operations Coordinator works in a team with the Turbine General Manager and the Marketing Communications Event Coordinator and start-up coaches.

Responsibilities include

Recruitement of new start-ups by:

  • Setting up a business idea challenge, 
  • Detecting good business ideas for Inspire program.
  • Providing useful guidance and positive feedbacks to entrepreneurs contacting Turbine.

 Consolidation of Turbine’s service offer by:

  • Building up a strong service offer to start-ups. 
  • Creating partnerships with sales, marketing, finance, legal, administration & accounting experts.
  • Launching Turbine new programs to help established start-ups to pivot or extend their business to Africa.
  • Coaching incubated start-ups.

 Coordination of Turbine’s programs by:

  • Coordinating Inspire and Acceleration Progams, being the reference contact person for this 6 weeks/4 months intensive support to entrepreneurs.
  • Organising Turbine conferences / entrepreneurs talks: designing the event concept, planning and promoting the event, introducing the event to the audience.
  • Planning budget and reporting on costs related to Turbine programs and events.
  • Providing constructive feedback on Turbine’s programs & events to contribute to Turbine strategic developmment.

Profile of successful candidates

  1. MBA or other post-graduate qualifications is an advantage
  2. Having a previous experience working in Mauritius is essential, preferably in the start-up & entrepreneurial eco-system, with at least 4 years of experience in project management or in training / coaching.
  3. Eager to work in a team and to collaborate with others.
  4. Ability to take initiatives, to come up with solutions and to take on challenges.
  5. Demonstrated communication and negociation skills and ability to network within the business community and to make contacts with new partners.
  6. Exceptional events facilitation and organisation skills.
  7. Reliability, trustworthyness and rigour are essential qualities to this position. 
  8. Good knowledge of Microsoft office tools (incl. Excel, PowerPoint and Word).
  9. Fluency in French and English.
