Summary

Checkout.com is actively looking for a talented Senior System Administrator with a proven track record of developing and supporting Microsoft and Linux Technologies within automated and scalable cloud environments. The Senior System Administrator will be responsible for the administration of the cloud environment in AWS and will maintain the operational integrity and security of the systems across all environments, ultimately ensuring that our high-availability product environment operates always at peak performance, with reliability, scalability and security to support our growth objectives.

The ideal candidate is a deep technologist with a proven track record of working on large scalable infrastructures and possesses a service-oriented mind-set. A creative thinker and problem solver that is very comfortable with IT standards, processes, policies and compliance in general.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure administration of Checkout.com cloud environments in AWS.  This includes deployments, monitoring, maintenance, security, infrastructure automation / operations
• Participate in software and system performance analysis and tuning, service capacity planning and demand forecasting
• Suggest enhancements and escalation concerns appropriately to diagnose and remediate underlying system problems
• Provide day to day functional support of Infrastructure services for Cloud operations
• Evaluate current processes, implementation and identifying areas for improvement
• Write and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasks
• Troubleshoot the computing infrastructure of Checkout.com and oversee the installation and maintenance procedures
• Identify and drive automation initiatives to deliver efficiencies and self-service capabilities
• Develop strategies and lead upgrading projects for existing infrastructure systems and services to improve availability
• Oversee the effective documentation of server procedures regarding design and implementation of hardware, software, and systems
• Research. evaluate, test and implement new hardware and software technologies to improve site efficiency

Skills & Experience

• 5+ years’ experience within Systems Administration/Support
• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Windows, virtualization, Networking and Linux environments
• Robust working knowledge of AWS Cloud Solutions & other cloud platforms
• Hands-on software and hardware troubleshooting experience
• Knowledge of security concepts / best practices including PCI DSS
• Good understanding of databases such as SQL Server is an advantage
• Desirable, Certifications in Microsoft, Linux, Networking & Cloud
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• BSc in Computer Science or related field
• Strong multi-tasking skill
• Fluent in English
