SAFYR UTILIS LTD is recruiting for one of its clients, an internal group founded in 1982 with Headquarters in Switzerland, and strategic geographical footprint in the Oil & Gas, Infrastructure, Telecom, Construction, Mining and Power industries in 60 different countries:

 

-A Mauritian Senior Accountant with a minimum of 7 years of relevant working experience, based in Mauritius but with punctual business trips to Nigeria, to take responsibility of the financial reporting of the Nigerian subsidiary for the Swiss Headquarters of the group.

Management

  1. Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
  2. Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives
  3. Manage one accountant

Tasks

  1. Ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner
  2. Ensure that accounts receivable are collected promptly
  3. Process payroll in a timely manner
  4. Ensure that periodic bank reconciliations are completed
  5. Ensure that required debt payments are made on a timely basis
  6. Maintain the chart of accounts (local GAAP)
  7. Maintain an orderly accounting filing system
  8. Maintain a system of controls through accounts reconciliation over accounting transactions
  9. VAT and withholding tax monthly filing and any other mandatory tax filing to Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) 
  10. Conform with and abide with all the regulatory guidance and internal policies and procedures
  11. Liaise with local Nigerian team notably for the petty cash management, the HR payroll activity and the invoicing process

Reporting to HQ and Third Party

  1. Issue timely and complete monthly, quarterly financial statements in accordance with HQ instructions and Group accounting rules
  2. Issue regular cash reporting to HQ
  3. Coordinate the preparation of the corporate annual report
  4. Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts with the Regional Manager
  5. Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
  6. Provide margin analysis per project

Compliance

  1. Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit
  2. Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings

Skills

Language: English, French a plus
Proficiency in IFRS
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required (Master’s preferred)
Experience with computerized ledger system
Deadline-Oriented
Good verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills
Strong problem solving and analytical skills
Ability to function in a multi-cultural environment (Swiss company with French individuals / Nigerian subsidiary)
7+ years ‘experience in general or tax accounting
