Responsible for general running and daily operational requirements of the Student Life Residence. Act as a first point of contact for students who have concerns about their accommodation or other aspects of their lives.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

KRA – Student Liaison 
• Act as a first point of call for help and support for any matters relating to life in the student housing.
• Advise students of the appropriate route to follow regarding complaints or welfare issues.
• Responsible for the proper implementation of “student Housing Rules” and ensure that these are strictly followed. 
• Refer student issues (related to conduct, health, welfare) to the Student Life Manager in a timely fashion.
• Conduct on-going periodic assessments of resident’s needs.
• Assist Student Life Manager to address student conduct / conflict and lifestyle matters (such as noisy neighbors, messy housemates, conflicts etc).
• Respond positively to approaches by students at all times.


KRA – Repairs, Maintenance and Housekeeping
• Coordinate and arrange third party services of maintenance contractors, suppliers, vendors, etc. 
Deal with contractors/ service providers on a daily basis within limits of authority
• Ensure day to day smooth running and control of:
o Security 
o Housekeeping/ cleaning
o Electrical, plumbing 
o Landscaping
o Accommodation complaints
• Build a professional relationship with housekeeping, security guards and concerned service providers to ensure that the residence environment is maintained at optimum level.
• Liaison with Facilities Management (FM ) company in eventuality of problems 
• Retain files for all service providers and service records on site 
• Complete daily checklist on maintenance items to report to FM Company


KRA – Communication 
• Facilitate resident meetings.
• Inform residents of the Student Life Residence Policies.
• Ensure Policies are current and communicated to all students
• Exercise appropriate level of confidentiality.
• Communication with direct superior and the Student Life Manager on regular basis through scheduled meetings and reports.
• Communicate maintenance, repair and housekeeping concerns to proper personnel in a timely fashion.


KRA – Residence Administrator
• Ensure proper management of keys (student rooms, common areas, office keys and others).
• Responsible for all administrative tasks related to the student housing maintenance.
• Report on specific incidents as and when requested to do so. 
• Coordinate damage accountability and billing process.

KRA – Health & Safety (H&S)
• Regularly participate in building tours and conduct H&S inspection with assistance of health and safety officer.
• Comply with Health & Safety (H&S) regulations and policies.
• Ensure that the implementation of an effective safety program to keep the risk of accidents to the minimum.
• Raise awareness of H&S rules and assist students to understand expectations. Ensures that rules of the SLR are maintained and followed accordingly.
• Lead fire drills as required.
• Ensure the safe evacuation of all persons during an emergency or disaster situation.
• Act as a mediator in case of emergencies and provide help whenever possible.
• Holder of Valid First Aid certificate 

CANDIDATE PROFILE
Qualifications Required:
• Diploma from a recognized institution.
• At least 2 years’ similar experience in an academic environment


Key competences (Knowledge, Skills, Attitudes, Behaviors):
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Good understanding of Health & Safety.
• Good understanding of First Aid.
• Proven ability to work positively as part of a team and on own initiative.
• Basic technical understanding of Property Maintenance
• Good understanding of needs in a residential setting, housing a diverse group of people.
• Proven ability to behave in an appropriately assertive way and deal with difficult situations.
• Willingness and ability to work flexibly.
• Ability to work with diverse communities.
• Good problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
