RESPONSIBILITIES

(a) Manage and co-ordinate ongoing legal contracts.
(b) Assist in day to day legal and regulatory matters when required.
(c) Represent the Company in various meetings and forums in the Government and other regulatory circles and facilitate visits / meetings with the government agencies in order to resolve issues or fulfill the requirement of the regulatory authorities where required.
(d) Contribute to the formulation of policies on issues concerned with interconnect payments, customer's complaints in order to comply with the regulatory requirements.
(e) Obtain approvals from Government and regulatory authority on tariffs and other related services and provide assistance and facilitation to various sections within the company for timely implementation of approved services.
(f) Pro-actively gather information and lobby for the interest of the Company, within government circles in order to maintain productive working relationships with the authorities.
(g) Analyze the Regulatory framework which includes the Regulations, Policies, Determinations & Consultations Papers issued by Authority (ICTA).
(h) Responsible of the routine basis correspondence with the government bodies like the ICTA, Ministry of Information and Communication Technologies and other Cellular & fixed operators on behalf of Emtel.
(i) Provide legal assistance in routine operational legal matters such as drafting and reviewing of contracts.
(j) Monitor legal costs.
(k) Liaise with internal customers, legal advisers external parties such as ICTA, Ministry of IT and Telecommunications etc. when required. All such dealing should reflect a high level of professionalism.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

- Minimum 5 years experiences in the legal sector in Mauritius preferably in the ICT Sector, with extensive experience in vetting a wide variety of contracts.

- Experience in ICT regulatory matters will be a definite advantage.

- LLB (Honours) from a recognised university

- LLM and Bar Vocational Course
