To ensure all critical measuring equipment are calibrated, verified and validated.

 

Dimensions

 

  • This position responsibility extends to both sites of PTM (including ICL, other offsite areas) and both shifts.
  • The scope covers all critical measuring equipment involved in operational, Quality assurance and other activities at Princes Tuna Mauritius.
  • The Metrologist is expected to deal with various departmental Managers on both sites.
  • In close collaboration with procurement department work with external suppliers and service providers.

 

 

Principal Responsibilities

 

The Specific duties would be:

-       To ensure all critical measuring equipment are calibrated, verified and validated.

-       Ensure critical measuring equipment compliance as per ISO 17025 standard.

-       To maintain measuring standards, ensure their timely calibration and traceability to the International System of Units.

-       To maintain and continuously update calibration matrix for all critical measuring equipment.

-       Issue and maintain reports for conducted calibration, verification and validation studies of equipment.

-       Ensure critical measuring equipment compliance as per internal and external standards followed by the company.

-       Continuously looking for scope to improve the metrology system and maximise in house calibration and maintenance of measuring equipment.

-       To follow and be updated with compliance standards

 

 

 

 

 

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

 

Required:

  • A degree in Mechanical engineering or any other related discipline
  • Knowledge about Metrology
  • Good understanding and application of measurement uncertainty.
  • Have knowledge of measuring equipment.
  • Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Have ability to identify and solve problems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot faulty measuring equipment.
  • Have a good knowledge of office software packages.
  • Ability to conduct statistical analysis
  • Have good ability to write reports.
  • Ability to compare equipment specification to select the most appropriate equipment.
  • Attention to details.
  • Demonstrate excellent planning skills.

 

 

Desirable

  • Knowledge of ISO 17025 standard.
  • Knowledge about HACCP.
  • Knowledge of food manufacturing standards.
  • Knowledge of laboratory accreditation requirements.
  • Knowledge of health and safety.
