Head Cashier

The job incumbent shall be responsible to manage all frontline operations, direct checkout operators to respective tills, distribute the cash flow while ensuring that optimal customer service levels are achieved.

Monoprix is known as the first Supermarket of its category to operate in Mauritius and forms part of Harel Mallac Group. It now comprises of three stores at Curepipe, Bagatelle and Cascavelle. It operates in a business environment where there is fierce competition and difficulties beyond its control such as Government economic agenda and customer’s demand.

A great opportunity currently exists within Monoprix which is recruiting a Head Cashier.

The job incumbent shall be responsible to manage all frontline operations, direct checkout operators to respective tills, distribute the cash flow while ensuring that optimal customer service levels are achieved. He/She shall also assist in customers’ queries and direct customer complaints to the Store Manager.

MAIN DUTIES:

-       Balances the cashing float before and after operations and makes general backup of cash transactions.

-       Enforces workforce discipline and code of conduct and handles problems of Subordinates.

-       Conducts on-the-job trainings, regular meetings and one-to-one discussions with Subordinates.

-       Guarantees availability & flexibility of Staff on Shifts system.

-       Keeping a professional and good communication among colleagues.

-       Monitors Customer Service levels on the frontline.

-       Expedites frontline, directs flow of customers and ensure that each Customer receives outstanding Customer Service.

-       Manages the distribution of gift vouchers, ‘Cartes de Fidélité’ to the Customers.

-       Answers to queries, handles complaints of Customers and reports to the Store Manager.

WORK EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

-       A minimum of 3 years’ working experience in a dynamic environment

-       A Higher School Certificate

-       Fluency in English and French

-       Supervisory skills

-       Good communication and interpersonal skills

-       Good numerical and IT skills Highly Creative
